When you buy your very first property, it is usually a flat or a terraced house. Usually in need of a full refurbishment or at least a hefty chunck of cash for making it more habitable and comfortable. It’s extremely rare that a couple will enter the fray by buying a fully fledged country cottage – epeially one with a full thatched roof, small paned glass windows and a full width fireplace with wood burning stove. These are the preserve of the richer folk who have made their millions and are now able to indulge themselves and buy something special for their retirement hobby. We can rent any number of lovely cottages – there are some good magazines about and some have adverts to rent out these investments. Renting a holiday cottage is such an ideal way to discover whether cottage living is for you.
